Welcome back to the Young People’s Development Group blog! Today’s writer is Jake, and I’m going to take you through everything we’ve been up to during July and August.
We kicked things off with a presentation to Myton, where we shared our ideas and updates to make sure everyone stays involved with the youth zone’s progress.
Throughout the summer, we’ve been enjoying more bowls and croquet sessions which has become one of our favourite ways to relax, have fun, and spend time together.
One of the biggest highlights was our trip to the Lake District, where Bailey and I joined the Youth Advisory Board. This was an amazing experience where we got to meet other young people, share our ideas, and spend time together in such a beautiful setting.
When we got back to our regular YPDG sessions, we got creative with a spray-painting workshop and made a personalised chip spice box with our names on it which was definitely unique.
We also went on a fantastic trip to Hull, where we visited Warren and explored the arts museum. It was a great day out and gave us a chance to learn and feel inspired by the exhibits.
Later in the summer, we took part in the Xceco Funday, which was full of activities. We went on a boat ride, did some face painting, and spoke to lots of people about Horizon Youth Zone. It was a brilliant way to let more people know what we do.
On top of all this, we were involved in several interviews, helping to choose Holiday Club Coordinator, Facilities Manager, and even taking part in Youth Lead interviews for Junior and Senior roles. It felt great to have our voices heard and help decide who will be part of the team supporting the youth zone.
To celebrate all our hard work, we had a pizza night the perfect way to end a busy few months!
July and August were full of creativity, teamwork, and exciting opportunities and we’re so proud of what we’ve achieved.
Thanks for reading, and make sure to check back for our September blog to see what we get up to next!
