Volunteers’ Week 2026 – a UK-wide celebration

Horizon Youth Zone marks Volunteers’ Week 2026.

Volunteers’ Week returns this year for the 42nd year. From Monday 1 to Sunday 7 June 2026, Horizon Youth Zone will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.

Running every year since 1984, the week provides a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills. The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK. The celebrations aim to foster connections between national organisations and grassroots groups, celebrating the spirit of volunteering that enriches communities each year.

This Volunteers’ Week, Horizon Youth Zone will be celebrating their 32 volunteers by publishing case studies highlighting some of our amazing volunteers, releasing a very special thank you video, and throwing a well-deserved party for all Horizon Volunteers.

Volunteer Coordinator, Helena Gollings said, “It’s been overwhelming to see such an outpour of love and support for the young people of North East Lincolnshire from so many different corners of our community. Our Horizonteers come with experiences and passions that span through time, continents, and industries, and our members are so lucky to have them at Horizon Youth Zone.

“Because of our Horizonteers, our children and young people’s lives are already richer, more interesting, and warmer because of these 32 incredible people. We have nearly as many soon to be volunteers who are at various stages of our onboarding process, so we look forward to many new faces supporting Horizon over the coming months.”

Volunteers’ Week is led by the UK Volunteering Forum, a partnership between Volunteer Scotland, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland.

The UK Volunteering Forum said: “Volunteers bring a richness to organisations across the country. There is no better time to recognise the diversity of our volunteers and celebrate the difference that volunteering makes than during Volunteers’ Week. Without volunteers many charities simply could not function, with so many people giving up their time and going above and beyond. The week is a chance for all of us to show just how vital they are to charities and communities everywhere.”

If you’d like to meet new people, learn new skills, have fun and most importantly, make a huge difference in your community, then please consider giving a little of your spare time to support local young people. Visit our Volunteer page to find out more.
