DFDS Seaways Immingham has become the latest business to support the town’s young people by becoming a Founder Patron of Horizon Youth Zone.
As a founder patron DFDS has committed to making an annual charitable donation to help the new Youth Zone offer first class facilities and opportunities for thousands of young people in their local area.
Andrew Byrne, Managing Director of DFDS Seaways, said: “Having been born and raised in Cleethorpes, this charity and the wonderful work that it will deliver is very close to my heart. We have over 500 local people working at our site at the Port of Immingham, and I have absolutely no doubt that the Horizon Youth Zone will provide many great facilities for their families and many other families connected with the port and the shipping industry.
“As a company that is long-standing in this community, we are committed to promoting excellent initiatives such as this. We are delighted to be helping to build the Youth Zone from the foundations up, creating a lasting legacy for generations to come to reach their full potential in our proud area.”
Standing in the heart of Grimsby, Horizon Youth Zone will be a safe and inspiring place for young people aged eight-nineteen and up to age 25 for those with additional needs.
Inside the Youth Zone young people will have a choice of over 20 fun and engaging activities every day including sports, arts, music, media, dance, drama, cooking, employability and enterprise workshops. This will be coupled with support from highly skilled youth workers.
Each member of Horizon’s Founder Patron family pledges a long-term financial commitment, helping the Youth Zone to build strong foundations within the town.

Horizon Youth Zone will provide the very best facilities, support and opportunities – it will be the place that the town’s young people deserve and the support of our local businesses is essential to its success.”
Horizon Youth Zone is being delivered in partnership with OnSide Youth Zones and North East Lincolnshire Council and is supported by a number of businesses and philanthropists.
