Cornerstrone Patron: National Lottery Heritage Fund

About the National Lottery Heritage Fund

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest dedicated grant funder of the UK’s heritage. Locally connected and with UK-wide expertise, they are a change-maker working to enhance and champion the value of heritage for all. Since they were established in 1994, they have awarded £8.6billion of National Lottery and other funding to more than 50,000 projects across the UK.

Heritage can be anything from the past that you value and want to pass on to future generations.

About the Partnership

In January 2022, OnSide successfully bid for £2.7m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to support the development of the Youth Zone itself and a longer-term heritage programme.

£2.2m will support the renovation of the Youth Zone, which is set to transform vacant buildings on Grimsby’s oldest dock, including a former flour mill dating back to the 1700s. £500k will be used to establish a five-year programme of heritage-inspired activities, which have all been designed by local young people.

Horizon’s Young People’s Development Group played a key role in the bid, with one member of the group attending the presentation and several others producing a video to support the ask.
